Painting Workshops

5 different dates available to attend

One day, materials + lunch provided, and no experience needed!

In these one-day workshops, Mariah guides guests through painting a coastal landscape in acrylic. Each participant leaves with their own finished piece, along with a deeper connection to both place and process.

Mariah Reading is an eco-artist based in Bangor, Maine. Drawing from her travels through native lands, she creates impressionistic paintings on discarded materials, using found objects as her canvas to reflect on pollution, climate change, and our relationship to the natural world.

❋ Collaborative Energy

Connection is a core part of the process. You’ll learn just as much from the group as from the content itself.

❋ Expert Facilitation

Led by an experienced guide who knows how to communicate clearly, encourage participation, and keep things moving with purpose.

❋ A Supportive Space

Our workshop prioritizes comfort, safety, and respect—so you can show up as you are and fully engage in the process.

Mariah Reading is a highly experienced Maine-based eco-artist whose work reflects both technical skill and environmental awareness. With years of teaching experience, she creates an approachable and inspiring space for creativity. We feel incredibly honored to host Mariah at The Foggy Pearl, where she will lead guests in painting their own landscape—each person leaving with a finished piece of their own.

Guests are encouraged to explore the property—coastal forest, waterfront, and open views—allowing the environment to shape their work. Painting takes place in the bar with its open roll-up door framing the water, or on the pavilion overlooking Mount Desert Island, where light, movement, and wildlife become part of the process.
